HTH Oktoberfest is Saturday, October 19
The kitchen and brewery are buzzing as we prepare for Oktoberfest at Horse Thief Hollow. One of our favorite parties of the year is Saturday, October 19. This year, we will have three German-style craft brews on tap, plus an authentic German menu and live music from the Johnny Wagner Band! Reservations are highly recommended for this popular event. Please call the hostess desk at 773-779-2739 to make your plans.
Our signature Oktoberfest beer is Wasserwolf Jäger, a flavorful dunkel brewed in the Munich style. We break out the 1/2-liter and 1-liter dimpled steins for Wasserwolf, which adds to the fun of drinking this surprisingly refreshing and smooth beer.
We’ll also have two other German favorites on tap during Oktoberfest: 18th Rebellion and Hefewestern. Our unfiltered kolsch, 18th Rebellion, is one of the first beers we brewed at Horse Thief. It’s a German cellar beer, or Zwickelbier, that’s clean, crisp, and goes down like a lager. Hefewestern is a local favorite in the Spring, Summer and Fall. It’s a classic German-style Hefeweizen with notes of banana and clove.
Food & Music
Neil Byers and his culinary team are hard at work on a traditional German menu featuring classic main dishes and desserts made from scratch. Dinner service will begin at 5 pm.
At 7:30 pm, the Johnny Wagner Band takes the stage to play traditional Bavarian, Austrian, and Slovenian styles of Polka music, with some American music thrown in, too. These guys are known for their yodeling, Austrian cowbells—and their 15-foot-long Swiss Alphorn. It’s gonna be wunderbar!
