Headlining our Summer Swelter outdoor festival on July 22 is The Leadfoot Band! They’re an acoustic quintet that delivers big sound. The Leadfoot Band serves up a high-octane blend of bluegrass, roots, and rock that tantalizes the senses and gets the feet moving. The band includes Steve Haberichter on mandolin, Mike Vanier on acoustic guitar, Garrett ‘Geebs’ Degnan on bass, Andy Ohlrich on fiddle, and Mike Holtz on drums.
The Leadfoot Band released their self-titled album in 2014, which earned national acclaim and was voted a Top Album of the Year by Jamgrass.net. Along with guest musician Pat Sansone of Wilco on keys, the album features all original songs that highlight the diverse songwriting of the band. The band has shared the stage with likes of Sam Bush, Railroad Earth, Hot Tuna, Bill Nershi, Jeff Austin, Split Lip Rayfield, Sarah Watkins, Darol Anger, The Iguanas, The Radiators, Vince Herman and Drew Emmitt from Leftover Salmon and many more. They are working on a new album in 2017.
Lumino magazine had this to say about Summer Swelter’s headliner: “Musical styles come and go, but occasionally the good ones come back sounding fresh and new. Bluegrass is just one of those genres that are sprouting through the cracks of our concrete jungle and it feels great! In this proud new high energy progressive blend, there is an excitability that is extremely refreshing. Leading the pack in (Chicago) is Leadfoot.”
We look forward to celebrating the dog days with you at Summer Swelter July 22! The party starts at 5:00 pm. Leadfoot will play at around 7:00 pm. Get more details on Summer Swelter here.
